Community Events

Weddin Shire has many community groups, organisations and businesses who are encouraged to run their own events. This year we are proud to promote a diversity of attractions, and events held throughout the long weekend in our villages and town centre. There is something for everyone to do, see and discover. The Weddin Shire has so much to offer everyone this June long weekend, so plan your time wisely to make the most of what is on offer.

Thursday night sees the opening of the Festival celebrations, with the crowning of the king and queen at The Art Show. Awards will be presented, and guests introduced to a receptive audience. A light supper will then be served amongst a showcase of visual talent.

Saturday is Street Party Day with the Main Street coming alive with market stalls, buskers, entertainment, and the return of everyone’s much requested Parade.

Wander the streets to take in the Micro Film Competition, the Photography and Quilt Show, the Poetry recitals, Fashion Parades, check out the many amazing boutique stores, cafes, our Chrysler Car Museum and stop into a pub or two to sample an ale and share a yarn. Stay awhile an enjoy the entertainment provided in the designated areas strategically placed along the street. Make your way to Rose Street to catch a performance by the Dramatic Society or slip away to Wallangreen Sculpture Garden or Patina Gallery for an intriguing escape.

Start your Sunday with the exhilarating Poetry Reading at the Obelisk, visit the Car Show, take the drive to discover a Castle, follow the signs to the intriguing Rustic Maze, then lift your spirits when you travel on to discover Bulla Creek.

Plan a country adventure for your long weekend Sunday, to discover several gems you must experience at least once in your lifetime. Take the Heritage bus tour, or marvel at the view on Ochre Arch Farm guided walk. Swing by the Grenfell Commodities Silo Art, the Grenfell Museum, travel to Quandialla to see the freshly painted Quandialla Memorial Hall Mural and stop by the CWA rooms for a cup of tea and their trash and treasure sale. Venture out to Caragabal for their Bird Art mural and their Camp Oven Cook off fun filled event.

There’s so much to do, see and experience throughout the Festival!
